The short version: KeySwap introduces you to someone with a spare key. The trade itself is between the two of you.
A place to swap spare Steam keys with other people. You list keys you do not need, say which games you want, and the site finds people to swap with.
It is not a shop. Nothing is for sale, no money changes hands, and KeySwap takes no cut of anything.
You must not use KeySwap to sell a key, buy one, or arrange payment of any kind, in money or anything standing in for it. Steam’s own rules prohibit selling keys, and accounts used for it will be removed.
Only list keys that are actually yours to give away.
There is no way to check whether a Steam key works without redeeming it. Steam does not offer one. KeySwap checks that a code is shaped like a Steam key and nothing more — it cannot tell you whether a key is valid, unused, or for the right region.
So a trade is between you and the other person. KeySwap holds the keys while the swap happens and shows each of you the other’s, but it does not guarantee that a key works, and it cannot get your key back if the other person’s turns out to be dead.
Trade with people whose account looks real. Profile age, trade record and past failures are shown for exactly that reason.
Report it, from the trade page. Reports are recorded against the other account, and accounts that collect enough of them are suspended automatically.
A suspended account cannot start a new trade, accept one, or list a key. It can still open, complete and fail trades it was already in — a suspension must not take away a game someone already traded for fairly.
Accounts that break these can be suspended or removed.
You sign in with Steam, so you need a Steam account and must be old enough to have one. You can delete your KeySwap account whenever you like, from your Profile tab.
Honestly: not much. KeySwap is a small site run by one person and is provided as it is. It may be unavailable, it may lose data, and it may change or shut down. It does not promise that you will find a trade, that any key you receive will work, or that other people will behave well.
To the extent the law allows, KeySwap is not liable for anything you lose through a trade, including a key that turns out not to work. Nothing here takes away rights you have as a consumer that cannot be signed away.
KeySwap is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Valve Corporation. Steam is theirs. Using KeySwap does not excuse you from Steam’s own rules, and those rules apply to the keys you swap here.
These may change; the date at the top says when they last did. Continuing to use KeySwap after a change means you accept it. If you do not, delete your account.
